Our Vision
Olive Branch Ministries was started to provide a long-term Christian home to individuals who are mentally challenged, yet highly functional. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and other intellectual disorders render some men in need of assistance for daily living. Families who are seeking a Christian home away from home for their loved ones, find the answer at Olive Branch. At Olive Branch, we provide that home atmosphere on 70-acres of farmland where the men can find fulfillment in varied activities. Qualified staff work together with the men in daily household and farm jobs. Bike and horse riding, walking trails, outside sports, inside board games, and fishing provide the men with wholesome activities. This atmosphere coupled with daily spiritual care provide a setting where men can live contentedly, while coping with effects resulting from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or other intellectual disorders.
Like all young men, those with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome have a lot of dreams and goals. They want to be productive and contribute to their community. They want to have friends. They want to have a home.
Unfortunately, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome brings a lot of challenges. Help is needed to plan ahead and carry through with plans. Emotion can fluctuate, and assistance from loving staff can help regulating their emotions. Connect cause and effect can be difficult, thus understanding outcomes of actions can be a challenge. This can result in strained relationships with family and friends. Unsafe behavioral patterns can cause risks of physical injury.
We believe that men facing these challenges can reach their goals. They can have warm, loving relationships. They can be safe and can be active contributors in their communities with help.
We provide that help by offering a safe, structured, and fully supervised environment. Our trained staff assist our residents in making safe choices in all areas of life. Our stable schedule helps their bodies stay in a stable routine, increasing emotional control. And surrounding all of that is the most important ingredient of all, love.
At Olive Branch Ministries, we believe that caring for our residents is more than a job, it is a calling to create a Christian home and care for every need of the men with God’s love, while lifting up their self-respect. We are not an institution; we are a place that they can all call home.
Whether it's managing money, going to church, doing yard work, helping out at The Bargain Store, playing video games, or just "hanging out on the farm," our mission is to ensure that our residents are able to live life to fullest, in spite of their limitations.
